Hansa Tonstudios

The "Hansa Tonstudios" is a recording studio facility located in Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany. It used to be known as 'Hansa Studio by the Wall', 'Hansa by the Wall', or 'The Great Hall by the Wall' in reference to the fact that it was adjacent to the then existing Berlin Wall. Founded in 1964 by brothers Peter and Thomas Meisel, first located in Nestor Strasse, then moved in 1972 to Köthener Strasse. Started as production company, label and music publisher and still one of the most established production and songwriter studios in Germany. Still owned by family Meisel, but today operated by his son Sven Meisel and his team. In the beginning they produced German "Schlager" music of artists like Drafi Deutscher, Marianne Rosenberg, Roland Kaiser, Christian Anders, Peter Maffay, Udo Jürgens and more. Because of their unique acoustic and facilities in the 80ies they worked their way up to one of the leading international studios and produced the hits of top acts like Pavarotti, Julio Iglesias, Boney M., Yusuf (Cat Stevens), Depeche Mode, David Bowie, U2, Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, Udo Lindenberg, Paul Anka, Wire, Brian Eno, Camouflage, Fad Gadget, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Diamanda Galas and countless more. Today all kind of music is produced. Main focus is still the production and progress of new and own artists as well as the realisation of contract productions. Name variations: - [l=Hansa Mischraum] - Hansa Studios - [l288091] - Hansa Studios, Berlin - Hansa Tonstudio
