This Mercury Living Presence SACD of Hanson's "Nordic" and "Romantic" Symphonies presents, for the first time, the composer's celebrated interpretations in their original 3-channel (left, right & centre) versions. In addition to this direct-to-DSD 3-channel stereo, the disc includes a new DSD stereo, plus the original CD transfer. A 3-channel direct-to-DSD transfer from original analogue masters. Total playing-time: 66.40 The Nordic was recorded 12/16/60 using 3 Telefunken 201 microphones. The Romantic was recorded on 5/4/58 and the Song on 5/6/57; one 201 and two M56 Telefunken microphones were used for both works. All sessions were held in the Eastman Theatre, Rochester, N.Y. and 3 track half-inch tape was used for all recordings. Only ORIGINAL MASTERS used for transfer to Compact Disc.
